The famous smartphone messenger app has now officially launched a new app for businesses who want to connect with their customers. The new app has been named WhatsApp Business App. With the logo similar to that of WhatsApp Messenger, the only difference lies in the letter “B” that replaces the “call sign”, the app has been launched keeping in the mind the small and medium businesses.
As per the official data, there are over 200 million active users in India. Many of whom conduct their business through this messaging app. And through this app, WhatsApp plans to create direct contact with the customers and the business.
Though it is a separate app, it working is similar to the standard version of the WhatsApp Messenger app. Hence it can co-exist with the messenger app, i.e. with the messenger, you can keep up with your personal life whereas, with the business app, you can get in contact with the customers on a regular basis.
But before we go for the download, let us take a look at the benefits provided by it-
1. The main purpose of making the app was to connect businesses with customers. This way the small and medium-size businesses- shops, wholesalers, bakeries, etc. can be in contact with their customers. The customers, too, can contact the business easily in case of an order, inquiry or complaint.
2. The app simplifies the interaction of customers by adding tools to automate the answers (when the company is busy) and quickly respond to messages. Inquires will be answered quickly, complaints solved faster. This will not only ensure customer satisfaction but also help to maintain a loyal customer fan base.
3. Similar to the messenger, the business can set up a profile with a profile picture. The difference lies in the details mentioned. In the messenger, a person’s profile shows their profile picture, their status, any media that has been shared and their last seen with their contact details. Whereas in the business app, the customer will be able to see additional information like- their address, the opening and closing hours, the link to the website, their email id.
4. Similar to WhatsApp Messenger app, you get the detailed statics of the messages delivered, read, and answered. It also offers end-to-end encryption of messages and calls, as being offered in Messenger. They can set their privacy policy for the profile pictures, their status, and information.
5. The customers have an option to block the business or report it as spam. This gives the customer full control over the content and messages they receive.
WhatsApp Business also plans to give a mark- the small green tick, that will show that the business is a confirmed business over time. This sign of confirmation will be displayed next to them. Furthermore, the users can now transfer money too. By linking their bank accounts via UPI(Unified Payments Interface), they can transfer money straight to the person’s account they are chatting to. Although this feature is not available to all users and will roll out gradually.
With new features that are apparently set to roll out in near future, this app is fruitful and beneficial for businesses.
